Ted Nugent – Fred Bear

Ted Nugent is a great voice of freedom, liberty, hunting, guns, and music.

He makes himself heard in the media and I really enjoy watching videos of him on YouTube.  Here are some of my favourites.

But he is also a musician and well know for some of his rock’n’roll songs.  Of relevance to you and me here is his famous ballad about Fred Bear, the late bowhunting proponent.

Ron Paul Videos

Collection of Ron Paul Videos

As Canadians, we don’t usually look to the USA for political or economic advise – especially these days with the turmoil going on there.  But there is an Exception: Dr. Ron Paul.

Dr. Paul is a Republican, but not a big government Republican like the rest of them.  He is an opponent of big gov, fascism,  corporatism, income tax, and foreign military intervention.  In this way, we are on the same page regarding politics: Less is More.

Hear is a collection of my favourite Ron Paul Videos:

Mossberg 500 vs Remington 870

For a first firearm, you must compare the Mossberg 500 vs Remington 870.

In the USA it is easy for people to buy handguns, so they often do for their first gun.  Plus they are able to carry it with them if they are in the right state and have the correct permit. But in Canada, pistols and revolvers are more difficult to get.  So your first gun should likely be a shotgun.

For my first firearm, I will likely be getting a Mossberg 500, Mossberg 590 (HD military verison of the 500), or a Remington 870.  These are such versatile weapons, allowing you to hunt and protect your home from intruders.  Load in a 1 oz slug and you can take down a deer.  Bird shot will take down birds.  Buck shot will take down medium game and two legged rats (i.e. home intruders).  Finally, you can have a heck of a lot of fun shooting targets or skeet with a shotgun.

The following videos will help you to decide the eternal battle of Mossberg 500 vs Remington 870.  But a couple of the points that I noted were:

Jack Spirko Quote On The Rat Race

I don’t recall which episode of The Survival Podcast I heard this on, but it hit home with me so much that I had to write it down (hopefully verbatim).

It is about the rat race that many of us are involved in on a daily basis.  Takes these words to heart and they can only change your life for the better:

Modern society has conditioned us to not be human”.  “It is not human to drive a long distance in a metal casket with wheels on it, everyday, risking your life, spending money for the privilege of doing so, to get to a place you don’t want to be, to hang out with people you don’t want to be with, to do a job that you don’t like, to make less money than you’re worth, only to do it again to come home to a house you can’t afford, with bills you can’t pay, with kids and a spouse that are unhappy because they’re doing the same shit in their own microcosm.  It’s not normal for your kid to go sit still for 8 hours a day behind a desk and do what they’re told and keep their mouths shut – and be given a drug if they don’t do it the way they’re supposed to.  None of that’s human!  And we do it  And on some levels, we have to do it

Computer Privacy

The programs & web applets I use for computer privacy

Between hackers, competitors, nosy kids, and nosier NSA agents, computer privacy is a very hot topic.  Well in Canada we have to also watch out for the nosiness of the CSIS, CSEC, and I’m sure that the CRTC wants to make sure we’re not using any naughty language.

Here are programs that I use or am looking into for my own computer privacy:

Some will rob you with a six gun- Some with a fountain pen

“As through this life you ramble
You’ll meet some funny men
Some will rob you with a six gun
Some with a fountain pen
As through this life you ramble
As through this life you roam
You’ll never see an outlaw
Take a family from their home”

Questions Answered: For protection, is it better to carry a gun or pepper spray?

Guns and Firearms: For protection, is it better to carry a gun or pepper spray?

If it’s legal in your area, then both.
Some situations would be solved by the threat of pepper spray, some by its deployment.  Some situations may require the threat of a firearm, and – as much as we hate to admit – some situations do require the use of the gun for personal protection.

It would be a shame to use a gun where pepper spray would have been effective.  It would be just as regrettable to only have pepper spray where a gun was necessary.

Unfortunately, the gun option isn’t really possible here in Canada – unless you’re at home or out hunting.  Even then, you would still be treated like a criminal.
